What PCOS?
PCOS is characterized by an imbalance in reproductive hormones that can interfere with ovulation, menstrual cycles, fertility, metabolism, and overall health. Despite its name, PCOS is not defined by ovarian cysts. This is why this condition is now being changed to Polyfollicular Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. This change highlights the fact that many women have multiple small immature follicles in their ovaries, and some women with PCOS have completely normal-appearing ovaries.
